What’s up, I’m Jimfro and this is the Ready, Check, Pull guide for Artificer Xy’Mox, big shout out to our Patreon supporters who help make these videos possible.
Xy’mox is back and he brought his portals with him, along with a few new tricks, this fight is
super hectic and also super scripted. It has a mix of single target and AoE, with a pretty big
focus on priority funnel damage. The last phase has a lot of movement and healing requirements so you’ll most likely be Bloodlusting then to try and get that phase done as soon as possible.
Alright, you’ll start by having the tanks pull the boss away from the middle of the room.
Have everyone slightly spread out around this side of the room to help bait the Stasis Traps so that there's not a bunch of traps all over the place.
On Normal, you can have a player with immunities trigger all of the traps to deactivate them, but on heroic, the Stasis Traps never go away, so you’ll want to make sure to keep one side clear of traps for the last phase.
Next, two players will be marked with yellow arrows above their heads, one is always on the tank, so you’ll want to make sure that the tank drops the portal off at the edge of the platform while the other player runs their portal to the center near the relic.
The boss will occasionally put a white circle on players' feet and cast this white bouncing
spark that jumps from player to player doing splash damage and leaving a stacking DoT. This isn’t really a problem by itself but if you end up with 2, 3, or 4 stacks for 26 seconds, that could quickly turn into a really big problem.
Phase 1
Now let's start with the first phase, so one of the main mechanics of this fight is the rings that either start in the middle and expand to the edges or start from the edges and contract to the middle, this is why we placed one portal in the middle and one at the edge.
You can tell which ring you’ll get by looking at the relic in the middle of the room. If the circle
starts at the base of the relic and moves upward, then the ring will be contracting from the edges.
Conversely, if the circle on the relic starts at the top and moves downward, then the ring will be expanding from the middle.
If you pass through the ring, you’ll basically be one shot so the way that you deal with the rings is by getting to the correct portal, wait for the ring to get closer to you, then move on to the portal to be teleported to the other portal. This doesn’t seem too hard, right?
Well now's a good time to talk about the tank mechanic.
So Xy’mox will mark the current tank with the Glyph of Relocation debuff for 5 seconds, when the debuff expires it’ll deal a ton of fall off damage to the entire raid, and pulls them all to the tank. It’s actually a pretty awesome addition to this fight, this is also where you’ll be taunt swapping.
Most of the mechanics in this phase are pretty straightforward to wrap your head around, but since you’ll be getting an additional ring at 75% and another additional ring at 50%, things start to get a little crazy as the fight goes on.
Here’s a little example of what the third phase 1 might look like:
The first ring starts to expand from the middle. The raid runs to the outer portal, waits a second, goes on to the portal to get teleported. The raid then runs away from the tank to reduce the damage from the tank debuff blast while the tank stays near the portal to
quickly pull everyone back after the blast. Then everyone immediately spreads for spark and heads to the next portal for the third ring.
You’ll also want to make sure you're not dropping traps in the middle of the raid while this is going on.
This phase has a lot going on at first, but is very scripted, so you’ll get used to the patterns pretty quickly.
Phase 2
Now, at 75 and 50% health, Phase 2 will start, the boss will stop doing mechanics and a bunch of adds will spawn.
The tanks need to pick up everything making sure each tank has 1 Acolyte each - those are the big adds, the big adds need to be bursted down quickly, which means massive cool points for any class that can do priority funnel damage.
If the big adds get to full energy, it’s a wipe, so they need to die fast.
The little adds, the Xy Spellslingers, just need to be interrupted and cleaved down.
When all of the adds are dead, Phase 1 repeats with an additional ring added.
And that’s pretty much it!
Here’s a quick recap of the fight for you to review or screenshot for later.
