Welcome back to another video. It's your boy Unholyspirit. Please like, subscribe and comment all that good ****. Today, I'm going to be bringing you a video about disc priest PVE, the easiest spec in the game, one of them at least.
We're going to be looking through talents, glyphs, stats, which gems to use macros, rotation, all the good stuff. So please stay tuned.
TALENTS & GLYPHS
First, we're going to take a look at the talents that I use. I've actually customized the talent that people post online to my own talents based on experience. Now I'll explain to you just in a moment how they differ. Basically, people like to take five out of five in this (Spell Warding) which I don't even understand. Like, why would you want five out of five in spell damage reduction, you're not a tank.
You lose out on possibly this. You lose out on possibly points in this or this which makes zero sense. Like, I don't even understand. So next, we're going to look at glyphs.
So obviously, Glyph of Power Word: Shield is the no-brainer. Glyph of Penance is no-brainer. The third one is optional so you can choose between Glyph of Prayer Healing and Glyph of Flash of Light. Flash of Light reduces the mana cost of Flash of Light by 10%. I don't really think that is worth it and I prefer to have this talent because it helps in 10-man healing.
ROTATION
Next, we're going to be looking at the general rotation. So number one your number one spell, Power Word: Shield, your bread and butter especially. I'm going to first go with 25-man, I'm going to go 10-man later. So 25-man, you're going to basically be a shield b**** is what we call it, so you want to be spamming shield on everyone all the time.
Prayer of Mending is really good for AOE damage fights. Penance is actually really good too. You should kind of use it on cooldown. It depends on the situation; like everything does but usually you want to use it on cooldown. Huge heals come out of this one. Flash of Light is a bit meh; you want to use it to top up people or if your Penance is on cooldown but the person needs your Grace which reduces damage taken by nine percent when fully stacked, you can also use that.
Renew is kind of pointless honestly unless you have another disc priest but why would you have two disc priests? Prayer of Healing is essentially your 10-man AOE healing. It's actually really huge. You're going to be using this in 10-man.
You obviously still want to use this on everyone and then you want to be using this. In 10-man, you want to be going for more haste but in 25-man, you don’t, of course. Another one is Desperate Prayer; now the healing is meh, it's okay. I think mine crits for about ten thousand something, eleven thousand around there. But it's really nice for “Oh s***” moments when you really need to quickly heal and your Penance is on cooldown.
Your shield has a debuff, Weakened Soul, and Flash Heal just won't do it. Obviously, that was actually quite high. Seven thousand six hundred but you have to remember that's a crit and also, it takes time to cast. Desperate Prayer is immediate but it's a two minute cooldown so you want to keep that into consideration.
10-MAN HEALING
So let's take a look at 10-man healing specifically. So 10-man healing is very similar to 25-man healing but basically, this is how it goes; way more haste probably like 600 is pretty good, you want to still Power Word: Shield the raid but you also want to be using Prayer of Healing a whole lot more especially for AOE damage.
You also would be healing with Flash Heal more. You might even use Renew more. In AOE damage, what I sometimes like to do is Power Shield and then Renew the whole raid and once they are done…
Let's just imagine this is the raid. Once I've done everyone, I begin to Renew the whole raid. i like to do this because it's just a crazy amount of healing. Now you might be saying “Oh, it only heals 1,800”. Yeah, imagine if it's on multiple people at once, it starts stacking up.
Another thing is Penance still bread and butter, is still the same essentially except you just want to be using Prayer of Healing and Power Word: Shield and all the good s***.
STAT PRIORITY
Next we're going to be looking at the stats. So number one: spell power. Get as much as possible as you possibly can. Number two: crit. Get as much as you possibly can. In 25-man, you want to basically get as much crit. In 10-man, you want to go for more haste.
To be haste capped, you need 154 if you have a haste totem and the 3% from paladin or boomkin. If you only have the haste totem, you want 257. If you only have the ret pally or boomie, you want 325. With no raid buffs, the cap is 434.
Next is spirit. Spirit is an interesting stat. It doesn't seem like it because it only regenerates mana but the math behind is really interesting. So spirit scales with itself and intellect, so the more of these two you have, the more spirit will yield. So mid to late game, spirit is far superior than mp5. In the early game, mp5 is actually good. It's not bad but it falls off.
And that leads me into mp5 which as I said early game, pretty good; mid game, meh; late game, no. And then there's intellect, you get it passively. Don't gem for it but all around, is your bread and butter. Without intellect, you have no mana, so you know…
GEMS & SOCKET BONUSES
Next, we're going to be talking about gems and socket bonuses. So number one, if it's plus 9 spell power, go for it; you want to suck it for that. If it's plus 7 spell power, it’s worth it. If it's plus 5 spell power, it depends. If you're lacking on mp5 or spirit, you want to be gemming obviously. And if it's a blue gem, you want to be gemming it to get that bonus.
But overall, I prefer Cardinals here just to empower your heals. At my gear score and above, you don't really need any more spirit because of your Rapture or whatever it's called proc. So if it's a spirit bonus, hell no unless you're really low geared. If you're low geared then it might be good.
EXTRA INFO
The next thing you want to be looking at is extra information. So number one: Rapture. Your Rapture is a really huge talent actually. Let me see if I can find it. I believe this is it, yeah. So when your Power Word: Shield falls off, it gets up fully absorbed, you get mana back and this is a 12 second cooldown as you can tell by the description.
Now the way you want to use this at least at Lich King LOD in phase three when you begin going into shadow realm, you want to stop using your Power Word: Shield on the tanks for the duration about 15 seconds before you go in and you want to use rank 13 Power Word: Shields on the raid. This will basically mean you pretty much get full mana when you get sucked in.
Next bit of extra information is Grace. This is a really huge talent. You want to be using basically Penance as your go-to way of stacking this. Basically, how it works is it stacks three times. Each stack gives a three percent damage reduction from anything to the person used on.
So obviously, you want to be using it on tanks most of the time. This is huge; the person gets nine percent damage production. Shamans give, I think it's 10%, 19%, you do the math, really nice. It's basically a very small version of Pain Suppression that you can turn on whenever you want.
Another bit of extra information is Power Infusion. Now Power Infusion is really interesting. It might not look that good; it might not look that interesting on the surface but this is basically three ways I like to use it.
So number one is for pure better damage burst buff. You want to use it on fire mages, maybe even arcane mages too. They're both viable. I'd say fire mage though because they're just ridiculously broken and never buffed.
So again, number one: pure power damage output. Use it on a fire mage. If you want to do a hybrid, that will be shadow priest. They benefit a lot from haste too and they also have heal. They passively heal so there's in between full damage and full heal.
Next one is holy paladin if they are not stacked in haste. If their holy light is one second, obviously we'd have to know this beforehand, so maybe ask them what is your, you know, with buffs and stuff. But if you want more healing power, you give it to a holy paladin and this will just destroy any part where you need healing.
BEST RACIALS
Next, we're going to be taking a look at the brace for each faction. For horde, basically, this is how it goes, you want to take troll 90% of the time if you're going to play shadow priest, if you're going to PVP, if you're going to play holy at all.
It's not that great on disc priest but it's amazing in every other scenario. And also, it's really good for disc priest in 10-man healing because you're going to be using more actual heals because there's only 10 people you can shield and there's a cooldown of 15 seconds.
And people might not have the shield taken down in those 15 seconds anyway because it lasts so long. So it buffs your Prayer of Healing, it depends on how much haste you have. Flash Heal, of course, it buffs it for me. As you can see, it’s at 1.04 cast time. If you take that away, that was a 2.5 seconds, so it's really nice.
The next option is the ten percent of the time in the Horde side. You want to be using the Blood Elf because it gives six percent mana. This is if you're only going to play PVE disc only and only 25-man. Only 25-man disc and only PVE, then an argument could be made that the Blood Elf is better because it gives you six percent mana.
Now for the Alliance side, there's only one option; it's the Human, he gets extra spirit and he has a CC break. He can break from CC free without having a trinket. Now this is also huge for PVP so you're probably going to want to take them anyway for PVP.
CONCLUSION
And that's it, guys. I will link the macros I use in the description below. I'll quickly show you. So here, I actually have no space for any more. I don't really use these because I have HealBot. I recommend HealBot. Voodoo is not too bad.
Voodoo is actually better in the encounters where you need to know how far away people are because for some reason HealBot is trash for that.
Obviously, a rank 13 macro here. What's this? Oh yeah, I used to have a rank 1 macro for some reason. But it's obviously a little bit… Why have I got two of them? Huh, I didn't even know that.
You learn something new every day. So these are my macros, don't worry about these. I don't even know if I can delete them. I'm kind of scared of Voodoo; I don't understand it yet.
This is an interesting one because you're going to be using this mostly on bane if your teammates are slacking hard.
So thank you, guys, for watching the guide. Much appreciated. Please drop a like, subscribe and comment. See you!
