Magmorax Guide - Heroic / Normal - Aberrus the Shadowed Crucible - WoW 10.1 Raid Guide
Welcome to the official guide for Magmorax! This is a bloodlust on pull, single target fight that's mechanically simple but a big throughput check for your dps and healers. We'd like to extend a big thank you to our supporters on Patreon - your support makes these videos possible.
Mechanics
- Keep the boss in the middle of the room on pull.
- When random players get a circle around them, they need to spread out from each other away from the boss. The circle explodes on anyone inside it after a few seconds and drops a lava pool at their feet that grows slowly over time. Multiple people per pool need to stand in the middle of each pool to get it to shrink long enough to completely disappear. Standing in a pool just does damage to you on normal, so you can freely soak the lava pools whenever they spawn.
- On Heroic, you get stacks of a long dot the longer you stay in the pool. If you ever get to 25 stacks, you're dead. So help shrink the pools as much as possible but don't be silly. Let the debuff fall off if your stacks are getting too close to 25. If everyone is alive and helping soak, you should be able to keep the room totally clear of the lava pools.
- When a bunch of little circles spawn around the room, they need to be soaked by at least one player each or else they explode on the raid and spawn a lava pool. Soaking one of the circles gives you a debuff that increases your damage taken by the next set of circles, so your raid should alternate between which people soak each time. Just absolutely make sure all of the circles get soaked one way or another.
- There's a permanent dot on the raid that ramps up over time, so the healing requirement gets tougher the longer the fight goes on.
- There's a randomly-facing frontal to dodge.
- There's a big raid-wide knockback cast, so try to keep yourself positioned in a way where you won't get knocked off the platform.
- There's a tank swap mechanic where the offtank needs to taunt every time the boss casts Incinerating Maws, which does big physical damage to the tank and leaves a dot and vulnerability debuff for a while.
- The boss slowly gains energy over time. If he ever hits full energy, he wipes the raid real quick. Also, if the boss ever touches one of the lava pools he'll gain unnecessary extra energy, which means you probably won't be able to do enough damage before he gets to full energy and wipes the raid.
Recap
And that's pretty much it! The official guide will be released shortly after the raid, but here's a quick recap of the fight for you to review or screenshot for later. Our Patreon supporters get these guides early, so if you're interested in that, check the link below. Peace!
