Are you ready to take on the challenge of Mythic Notharian in the new raid Aberrus the Shadowed Crucible? Read on for an overview of the new mechanics, changes, and potential approaches.
New Mechanics
Several new mechanics have been added to Mythic, including a new ability called Volcanic Heart. This ability targets several players and deals a ton of red and white damage, leaving a DOT. On heroic, players affected by this ability AOE 15 yards around them, but on Mythic, they hit any player within line of sight regardless of distance. Additionally, the class-only mechanic from Phase 2 has been removed. Previously, each class got a fancy empowerment if they got corrupted, but now you just get corrupted. Rather than targeting classes, it just targets several players, who become hostile to everyone in the raid but are able to nuke the big add and break its shield. This means that if a red Paladin gets corrupted, you can accidentally nuke them down and say it was a mistake 15 times in a row.
Changes to Abilities
Several abilities have been reworked since the heroic version of this boss. The most notable change is to Volcanic Heart, which now targets several players and hits any player within line of sight on Mythic. Additionally, in Phase 2, players affected by the class-only mechanic now become hostile to everyone in the raid, rather than just targeting specific classes.
Approach
In Phase 1, you'll get rushing Darkness into Volcanic Heart two times into the second tank slam into erupting Fisher, then the big slam at 100 energy. To deal with Volcanic Heart, you'll need to break three different segments of the wall around the room so players targeted by this can run outside and loss to raid, but also loss each other. This mechanic will continue in Phase 2 as well. In Phase 2, you'll get tanks slapped into Volcanic Heart into rushing darkness, which means you have to break down the walls with the tank mechanic so that Volcanic Heart targets can Los. This requires you to break down multiple walls with it since they have to Los each other. So, the tank will get targeted by this, their spirit will leave their body, they have to run through the walls and break it in one of these overlapping segments, which in turn will break multiple walls when the ball sucks them back in.
In Phase 3, the portals that spawn, which you need to stand and survive the ebb and destruction, can now only protect one player each. This means you'll need to be way more organized than just YOLO.
As always, Mythic also means mineral overlaps and everything else just hurts way way more. Not a fight seemed fairly scripted from what we saw.
