Are you weary of the World of Warcraft leveling grind? Or maybe, like me, you’re an altaholic, immersed in past WoW expansions, with a mission to max out every class each time a new expansion drops. If the leveling process feels tedious to you, you've probably looked up leveling guides, hopeful for a swift route to max level. But here’s the catch - many of the best guides aren't free.
In this post, I've pitched two renowned leveling guide add-ons against each other: Zygor and Rested XP. The goal? To see which gets you to level cap faster.
Meet the Competitors:
- Zygor: A comprehensive add-on with a monthly subscription, offering not just a leveling guide, but also gold making, achievement, mount farming, and pet collecting guides.
- Rested XP: Known predominantly for its speed-leveling prowess. It's a one-off purchase with guides spanning from the base game through to TBC, WotLK, and more.
The Challenge: I played two characters, identical in race and class, leveling them to 12 in Wrath of the Lich King Classic. One followed Zygor, the other Rested XP.
With Zygor, I was directed effortlessly, the layout was intuitive, auto-quest acceptance and auto-gear equipping were at my fingertips. My experience felt like WoW on autopilot.
Rested XP was a different story. The journey was optimized for speed, making full use of death-travel and strategic Hearthstone usage. But a major difference? Rusted XP integrated class training into the guide.
But the pivotal moment? When Zygor sent me on a lengthy detour to Durotar at level 11. This added roughly 15 minutes to my run, tipping the scales in favor of Rested XP, which got me to level 12 with quests still pending.
Conclusion: Rested XP was the faster choice for this challenge. But speed isn't the only factor to consider. If you prioritize a relaxed leveling experience, Zygor's automation might be more up your alley. And for end-game players, Zygor offers a multitude of other guides.
In the end, your preference hinges on your playstyle. Maybe Rested XP claimed this round, but the war isn't over. What's your take? Let us know in the comments.
P.S. I'm keen to pit Rested XP against other popular guides. Suggestions welcome!
