Hello there guys LazyBeast here and this is going to be a quick refresher guide for the return to karazhan dungeon the upper section in season four mythic plus of shadowlands, if you're looking for a guide for the lower part of karazhan you can find that in the description below so let's go!
First Boss - The Curator
So to get to the dungeon you can take the portal next to the flymaster in oribos just here and when you start your key you'll start off in these stairs area.
So what you want to do is run all the way up these stairs killing the ghosts as you go, making your way to the curator boss room, watch out for the curses that these guys cast because they can hit quite hard in higher keys.
When you get to the golems just pull one of them preferably the left one and then kill the abstract
nullifier next, making sure to use the nullification field that he drops in his room.
When you get to the curator's room make sure you kill each trash pack one at a time you're gonna have to dps the small adds down to break the big elemental shield and once the shield is down make sure to interrupt this cast of arc barrage because they do quite a lot of damage, you can make use of the previous room to pull safely and if you do end up pulling the curator before you're ready to kill him you can run out of the room to make him reset until you are ready.
So the curator is the first boss, now throughout the fight he'll leave damaging pools on the floor so the safest strategy is to pull him to near the entrance and then gradually move up the room as the fight goes on so this way they end the fight near the portal saving a bit of runtime.
Do your best not to stack together so that multiple people don't get hit when power discharge goes off and then dps down the volatile energies as soon as they spawn.
You'll want to save your cooldowns for when it casts evocation as during this period he does take more damage and then be ready for the overlord ability that'll cast immediately after, the damage of this goes up for every evocation he's cast previously so the first one isn't that much of an issue but the second one could be quite deadly if everyone's not topped off and the third one you'll definitely want to save some defensive cooldowns or personal heals for this.
Second Boss - Medivh
Once the curator is down, head down the ramps and then wait until the pyromancer mob moves to the right and then run past him on the left skipping him completely, If he does aggro you can just reset him by dropping down into the next bit so just keep on going.
In the next room with the flamebringer avoid the fire tiles and kill him as quick as you can, if you pull him up the ramp to avoid the fire tiles he may bug out and get stuck in the floor so it's up to you if you want to risk it, this way you do avoid the flame tiles completely so it's easier but it could cost you time.
When you keep it does get stuck he does sometimes reset aggro and go to a random person in the group so if you jump down and say any pets are stuck at the top of the ramp you may target them and jump up and you'll also get stuck up there where you just came from, so try and avoid this where possible by dismissing your pets jumping down and then re-summoning them once it's down.
Head up the ramp and you'll get to the medivh boss fight, so the priority interrupt here is frost bolt then you want to leave the interrupting of the pace and missiles to the tanks that they can juggle interrupting with their defensive cooldowns.
Whenever he casts ceaseless winter just make sure you either keep moving around or jumping to
avoid being stunned now.
When he casts flame wreath this is his big scary ability so do not move when you're in it, you can still jump but you cannot leave the ring and nobody else can enter you will die if you do.
When he casts guardian image just nuke down the three adds one by one as a party so you can keep the damage under check, there's a lot for your healer to heal in this fight so just make sure you use your personal defensives and heals where you can to help them out a bit.
Third Boss - Mana Devourer
Once you kill medivh take the door to the right of where you entered and then drop down to where you turn small and here you're going to want to skip the initial trash mob so make your way through and then hug the wall over to the right and run down to where the boss is and then you
just want to kill the spider that's right near the boss and make sure that you dispel its cast of leech life as soon as you can.
So on to the mana devourer boss, so this guy will drop pools of void on the floor which you can ignore for now, once you cast the orbs you'll need to soak them they'll give you a debuff stack.
For each one that you do soak so you can then make use of these stacks by running into the void pools, they'll remove one stack every second so try and share this responsibility out in the group because taking too many stacks will kill you.
If the boss is tanked in the corner of the room that'll mean that most of the orbs that spawn will spawn right in the center of the boss's hitbox making them easy to soak by any class with an immunity.
You might want to use heroism on this boss to get out of the way as quickly as possible.
Fourth Boss - Chess Event
Once you kill him and you return to normal size, clear out all the trash in the rest of the room as it's quite easy to deal with and it gives a really good count.
So once you're out of this room start making your way up the ramps, ignore the bats in the air just dodge the stuff that they cast on the floor and deal with the two npcs that are on the ground the slayer is going to try to knock the tank off so don't have your back to the edge, if you're the tank don't tank him facing the group so he can't knock anyone else down.
The pyromancer is going to drop bombs which we can soak but they'll still deal big damage to you, anyway just make sure you soak them.
When you get to the chest part just cleave and aoe the mobs down don't stand on any of the tiles that have fire or light effects on them, just avoid any aoe stuff and make sure that you're damaging the king after any piece dies as it becomes vulnerable for 20 seconds when you kill
one piece, you can kill the queen last as she has the highest hp and at 30% hp the king is no longer immune so just make sure that your tank picks him up as it will become aggressive.
Final Boss - Viz’aduum the Watcher
Once these guys are out of the way, head through the portal and trigger the roleplay between khadgar and medivh and then here we have the final boss.
So this starts on the ground, the priority here is burning blast so either kick this or dispel it if it goes off, you'll need three people with interrupts in rotation to make sure that you can get every cast of it kicked.
The healer should focus on dispelling chaotic shadows, now when this is dispelled the person dispelled will then emit explosive orbs around it so make sure you're not all stacked up to make this easy to avoid.
The ships in the air will target someone with a fel beam so just make sure to kite this away from your group and the boss will occasionally cast disintegrate which is a big beam that comes out from his eye so make sure that you don't stand in front of him.
When he's casting this, always keep an eye on which way he's facing to make this easy to dodge.
At the start of phase two he's going to make a portal and group to one of the ships so go through the portal to follow him up, make sure you keep on dodging disintegrate as you're running towards the boss, he's gonna cast more and more chaotic shadows in the second and third phases so make sure you still don't stack up as best as possible which is a bit harder because the room is a bit tighter.
Now that you're on the ship, make good use of defensives particularly in the last phase and personal heals and save bloodlust for phase three too.
At the start of phase three it's just the same as phase two but he's going to go up to the top and
summon some fel guards you'll need to kill these but they can be stunned and cc'd in various ways or slowed down so make use of this stuff to help your tank out so he's not taking too much damage.
The main boss will be casting stabilized rift which is a 30 second cast that will begin as soon as it goes up so you need to interrupt this but interrupt it as late as possible, there's no benefit to kicking it early on this way you'll get the most value out of him not casting any of his other abilities giving you more time to deal with the fel guards so stay focused and get this guy down.
And that is your upper karazhan mythic plus run finished, if you want a refresher of the other dungeons in shadowlands mythic plus season 4 then check out the description for links to those guides.
